The Quality of Eggs🥚
Eggs should be kept in a cool place. Chicken eggs are fresher than duck eggs when placed in a refrigerator. If placed in a refrigerator, chicken eggs will stay fresh for 3 weeks, while duck eggs 🦆must be used within 10 days.
A non-fertile egg is produced by a female bird kept without a male bird, while a fertile egg is produced by a female bird mated with a male bird🐔. Fertile eggs are alive, and young chicks will grow once the eggs are kept in a warm place. To check if the eggs are fertilized, hold them against a light; if the egg appears pink or you see the young chick inside, the egg is fertilized🐥.
Dirty eggs should be cleaned before being sold or used. To clean dirty eggs, gently rub the dirty areas with fine sandpaper. Large numbers of dirty eggs can be washed in a special egg washing detergent at a temperature of 43-51°C (110-125°F).
To test egg quality, place the eggs🥚 in a container of clean, cool water💧
. Bad eggs will float to the top, while good eggs will stay at the bottom. With fresh eggs, the yolk stands out above the white, and the white will be thick. In old eggs, the yolk will appear flat, and both the yolk and white will spread out.
